Description
Two juniper trees are pointing in opposite directions on the top of a ledge near the overlook in Dead Horse Point State Park in southern Utah. They make a beautiful contrast with the clear blue sky on a beautiful winter day near Moab, Utah. Junipers are extremely hardy trees and can survive in the hardy conditions of the high desert. Junipers are to the Southwest what fir trees are to the Northwest: widespread and represented by several species. They provide food and resources for a variety of birds and animals, with birds and mammals eating the berries vegetation. The trees are also used for nesting sites for birds and rodents. In order to survive in the dry climate, junipers are capable of shutting off growth in portions of their limbs. Often you will see a juniper with some limbs with healthy looking vegetation and some limbs bare of any vegetation. This allows the tree to continue to survive with a minimum of moisture.

Wonderful capture and well worth of being FEATURED on the home page of Wisconsin Flowers and Scenery group, as it is a class act, and very nicely composed and presented. Thanks much for sharing this beauty with us. F/V Forever, Elvis
