A statue titled "First Impressions" is a memorial to three types of settlers in Australia. This sandstone statue is located at The Rocks and symbolizes the origins of the colony. The face shown is the Settlers; the other faces of this memorial are the soldiers and convicts.
This sandstone sculpture is located in Playfair Street in The Rocks area of Sydney. It was created by Bud Dumas in 1979. It is a memorial to the convicts, soldiers, and settlers who made up the original settlement at The Rocks. These three types of immigrants are each featured on one side of the three-sided monument.
